Use of BioXmark® to refine preclinical image-guided radiotherapy presented by Dr. Butterworth in an Xstrahl webinar

22 June 2021

Nanovi has collaborated with a research group from Queen’s University Belfast  to evaluate the use of BioXmark® for the refinement of image-guided radiation therapy in animal models. The research used Xstrahl‘s SARRP system to perform radiation in a pre-clinical setting and was funded by the NC3Rs, the UK National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of animals in research. See Nanovi press release on the study publication.

On June 24, 2021, Dr. Karl Butterworth from Queen’s University Belfast presented findings from this research in an Xstrahl webinar on ‘Reversing the Translational Research Paradigm in Preclinical Radiotherapy Studies’.

The presentation coved the following topics:

  • The principles of small animal image-guided radiotherapy and its impact on the 3Rs.
  • The use of BioXmark® in the refinement of preclinical radiotherapy studies.
  • Reverse translation of clinical observations of radiation effects in the heart.
